Solar panels for Donegal homes
Generate renewable electricity at home, reduce the amount you buy from the grid and see what your system produces through a monitoring app. EHP designs and installs solar PV systems for homes across Donegal.

Why install solar panels?
Lower your grid electricity use
Use the electricity your panels generate during the day and reduce the amount you need to buy from the grid.
Generate electricity at home
Power everyday appliances with renewable electricity generated on your own roof.
Make more of surplus electricity
Use eligible surplus through a battery, hot water diverter or EV charger, or export it to the grid.
Do solar panels work in Ireland?
Yes. Solar PV generates electricity from daylight, so a well-designed system can produce power throughout the year, even when the weather is cloudy.
Daylight, not heat
Solar panels do not need hot weather or constant sunshine. They generate whenever there is daylight, with the strongest output during the longer, brighter days of spring and summer.
Designed around your home
Roof direction, shading, system size and how much electricity you use during the day all affect the result. We assess these before recommending a system or estimating savings.
What solar can do for your home
Solar was the renewable upgrade that interested 81% of respondents in our 2026 Ireland Energy Confidence Survey. The benefits are practical and easy to understand.
Reduce electricity bought from the grid
Electricity generated and used in your home replaces electricity you would otherwise buy from your supplier.
Use renewable electricity every day
Solar can help power appliances, lighting, home working and other daytime electricity use.
Track your solar generation
The monitoring app shows what the panels are generating and how the system is performing.
Put surplus electricity to work
Eligible surplus can be exported to the grid or used through optional equipment such as a battery, hot water diverter or EV charger.

Check your SEAI grant eligibility
Answer a few quick questions about your home and we'll estimate which SEAI grants you could qualify for.
Was your home built and occupied before 2021?
This determines your eligibility for the two largest SEAI grants: Solar PV and Heat Pump.
How it works
Your survey confirms roof suitability, recommended system size, expected generation, grant eligibility and installation cost before you commit.
- Step 01
Free survey
We assess your roof size, orientation and shading, your electricity usage, and your meter setup.
- Step 02

We size the system to your actual usage and available roof space.
- Step 03
Grant application
We submit your SEAI application on your behalf.
- Step 04
Installation
A typical residential install takes one day.

We've been installing solar in Ireland since 2010
We installed our first solar panels in Ireland in 2010. We've been growing ever since - now installing around 8 domestic systems every week. That volume means our teams are efficient, experienced and practised at getting the installation right first time.

The price depends on the number of panels, inverter, roof access and any optional equipment such as a battery or hot water diverter. SEAI currently offers a residential solar PV grant of up to €1,800. Your survey gives you a clear system recommendation and itemised quote before you decide.
Through SEAI's Better Energy Homes scheme you can get up to €1,800 towards a residential solar PV installation. We register and manage the grant application for you as part of every install, so you don't need to deal with SEAI directly.
Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight rather than heat or direct sunshine. Output changes with the seasons and depends on roof direction, shading and system size, which is why the system should be designed around the individual home.
It depends on your roof size, orientation, shading and how much electricity you use. Our free survey assesses all of this and gives you a system sized to your actual usage and roof space.
No. Solar panels work without a battery. You can use the electricity as it is generated and export eligible surplus electricity to the grid. A battery may help you use more of your own generation later, but whether it is worthwhile depends on your usage and budget.
Eligible surplus electricity can be exported to the grid under the Clean Export Guarantee. Your electricity supplier sets the export rate. You may also choose to use more surplus electricity at home through options such as a battery, hot water diverter or EV charger.
