Ecoforest heat pumps for Donegal homes

We design and install Ecoforest air-to-water and ground-source heat pump systems for new builds and existing homes. A heat pump uses electricity to move renewable heat from the air or ground into your heating and hot water system, providing efficient, controllable comfort throughout the year.

Air-to-water or ground-source?

  • Air-to-water for many homes

An outdoor unit draws renewable heat from the air to provide space heating and hot water, without excavation or a buried ground loop.

  • Ground-source for suitable sites

A buried loop draws heat from the ground, where temperatures remain more stable throughout the year. It is particularly suited to new builds and sites with room for ground works.

  • Designed around your home

Ecoforest inverter technology adjusts heat pump output to the building's demand, helping the system provide steady comfort without producing more heat than the home needs.

Which heat pump suits your home?

Air-to-water and ground-source heat pumps can both provide heating and hot water. The right system depends on your home, site and planned work.

  • Air-to-water heat pumps

Ecoforest air-to-water systems draw heat from the outside air. They suit many new builds and retrofit projects because the outdoor unit is compact and no ground loop is required.

  • Ground-source heat pumps

Ecoforest ground-source systems collect heat through a buried loop. Stable ground temperatures can support consistent year-round performance, but the site must have room for drilling or excavation.

Efficient Renewables

Ireland's sole Ecoforest distributor

We hold the exclusive rights to Ecoforest heat pumps in Ireland, so we don't just install them, we supply plumbers and wholesalers the length of the country. You're buying from the source, and every system we fit is one our own engineers know inside out. Our installers train hands-on at the Ecoforest Academy in Newtowncunningham, fitting a heat pump start to finish rather than sitting in a classroom.

Up to €12,500 back from SEAI

Qualifying air-to-water and ground-source projects can receive up to €12,500 for a house or €9,500 for an apartment. The house maximum combines up to €6,500 for the heat pump, up to €2,000 for required central heating upgrades and a €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus when an eligible existing heating system is replaced. We can guide you through the application requirements.

How a heat pump project works

Every system is designed around the building rather than selected from a standard package.

  1. Step 01

    Free home assessment

We review the building, insulation, heat loss, existing emitters and available outdoor or ground space.

  2. Step 02

    System design and grant

We recommend air-to-water or ground-source, size the Ecoforest system and confirm any radiator, cylinder or ground works required.

  3. Step 03

    Installation and aftercare

Our engineers install, test and commission the system, explain its controls and remain available for ongoing servicing.

All FAQs

Older homes can need extra insulation or bigger radiators to get the best from a heat pump. We check your home's heat loss during the free assessment and tell you straight if any work is needed first.

Sometimes, not always. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures than an oil boiler, so some rooms need a larger radiator or underfloor heating to feel the same warmth. We assess your existing system before we quote.

A heat pump moves renewable heat from the air or ground instead of producing heat by burning fuel. Running costs depend on the home's heat loss, electricity tariff, flow temperature and how the system is used, so we assess the property before estimating savings.

Air-to-water suits many homes because it uses a compact outdoor unit and needs no ground loop. Ground-source can be a strong option for a new build or a property with enough land for drilling or excavation. We compare the building, site and budget before recommending either system.

We install Ecoforest air-to-water and ground-source heat pumps. Their variable-speed inverter controls allow the compressor to adjust its output as the building's heating demand changes.

Air-to-water installation centres on the outdoor unit, hot water cylinder and heating pipework. Ground-source projects also require drilling or excavation for the buried loop. We confirm the proposed layout and programme before work starts.

Both air-to-water and ground-source systems can qualify, subject to the home and project meeting SEAI requirements. Support can reach €12,500 for a house: up to €6,500 for the heat pump, up to €2,000 for required central heating upgrades and a €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus when an eligible existing heating system is replaced. Grant approval must be in place before work begins.
