The EHP Renewables team outside the Newtowncunningham showroom

Warmer Irish buildings, since 2009.

  • We started out working from Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal in 2009, when Christy Lynch and Jonathan Doherty set out to install solar panels and heat pumps that actually suit an Irish home.

  • Today EHP Renewables is a team of around 50 engineers and installers, based in Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal, covering homes and businesses across Ireland without losing the personal service we started with.

Our Story

From a single van fitting showerheads for Irish hotels, to Ireland's sole authorised Ecoforest distributor. Here is how EHP Renewables got here.

2009

Founded in Donegal as Efficient Heating and Plumbing

Christy Lynch and Jonathan Doherty start out in Newtowncunningham as Efficient Heating and Plumbing, doing domestic plumbing. With the recession forcing hotels and nursing homes to close under soaring energy costs, they went looking for products that could cut energy and water use, starting with water-saving showerheads and tap fittings for hotels. A trade-show Ecoforest stand pointed them toward renewables.

2010

Among the first with solar

EHP becomes one of the first companies installing solar panels in Ireland.

2012

Ireland's first Ecoforest heat pump

EHP installs the first Ecoforest heat pump in the country, the start of a long relationship with Ecoforest.

2014

Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur

EHP is named Donegal's Best Established Business in Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur, and incorporates as Efficient Renewables.

2016

First commercial project

EHP completes its first commercial install, at White Oaks in Muff.

2019

Sole Ecoforest distributor

EHP signs exclusive rights to Ecoforest heat pumps across Ireland, supplying plumbers and wholesalers nationwide and backing up Ecoforest systems the length of the country. The same year, the Ecoforest Academy opens at the Newtowncunningham showroom as a hands-on training centre for installers.

Today

One team, based in Donegal

Around 50 people work from our base in Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal, covering homes and businesses across Ireland.

How we work

From the first call to the day your system switches on, and every call after that.

Step 01

Free home assessment

We visit your home, look at how you live in it, and work out what a solar panel or heat pump system actually needs to do, at no cost and no obligation.

Step 02

Honest system design

We size the system to your house, not to a sales target. If something is not right for your home, we say so before you spend a cent.

Step 03

Our own engineers install

The engineers who designed your system are the same team who fit it. We do not hand the job to subcontractors halfway through.

Step 04

We service what we install

Once your system is switched on, the same local team is who you call for servicing, warranty work and questions.

What we believe in

Three things guide every job we take on, whether it is one solar panel or a full retrofit.

  • Plain advice first

We tell you what your home actually needs, not what is easiest to sell. If a system is not right for your house, we say so at the free home assessment, before you spend a cent.

  • Our own engineers

The engineers who design your system are the same team who install it and come back to service it. We do not hand the job to subcontractors halfway through.

  • We service what we install

Once your system is switched on, we are still the ones you call. Servicing, warranty work and questions all come back to the same local team that did the install.
